IKS Ab'Qaff ChaHom System

While investigating the third planet in the system, (the second was uninhabitable and contained no exploitable resources), we discovered a Class G world rich in latinum and dilithium. Landing parties conducting subsurface scans discovered serious anomolies and what we assumed were flaws in the crystalization process that would render the supply useless. Further analysis in the Ab'Qaff's science lab revealed that the crystalization process has been reversed on this planet. Initial surveys show that elements in the planetary crust react to a gravitational influence from the unstable second planet to produce the unique geological process. Despite all this, the planet is stable and worthy of study and colonization. But we are not here to conduct the kind of pure science mission that this planet requires.  I will, therefore, recommend that the High Council dispatch a pure science mission. In the meantime, we have established an unmanned orbital outpost to monitor the planet and protect our claim. There are Romulans in the area, according to our outposts left in the waHom system, and if this area is a value to us, it will be a value to them.
